What Is Sound Healing?

Sound healing is a therapeutic practice that uses sound vibrations and frequencies to support relaxation, balance, and inner awareness. Rather than working through the thinking mind, sound works directly with the body and nervous system, encouraging a natural shift from stress to rest.

Everything in the body vibrates — from our breath and heartbeat to our cells and tissues. When sound is introduced intentionally, it can help the body move toward a more settled, balanced state. Sound healing does not force change; it supports the body’s own ability to regulate and restore itself.

What to Expect in a Sound Bath

A sound bath is a deeply restful, immersive experience. You will usually lie down or sit comfortably, supported with cushions or blankets if needed. Once settled, you are guided gently into stillness before the sound begins.

During the session, instruments such as crystal singing bowls and other resonant sound tools are played in a flowing, intuitive way. The sound fills the space and surrounds you, allowing you to relax without needing to focus or “do” anything.

Many people experience:

  • A deep sense of calm or heaviness in the body

  • Slower breathing and a quieter mind

  • A dream-like or meditative state

  • Emotional release or a feeling of lightness

Some people drift in and out of sleep, others remain fully aware — both are completely normal. Each sound bath is different, and each person’s experience is unique.

How Sound and Vibration Support the Body

Sound vibration works primarily through the nervous system. When we are under stress, the body remains in a state of alertness, holding tension in the muscles and breath. Sound signals safety, allowing the nervous system to shift from “fight or flight” to a more relaxed state.

As the body relaxes:

  • Muscles soften and release tension

  • Breathing naturally deepens

  • The mind becomes quieter and less reactive

  • The body is better able to rest and recover

Sound can also be felt physically. Vibrations from instruments such as crystal bowls travel through the body, helping people reconnect with physical sensations and return to the present moment.

While sound healing is not a medical treatment, many people find it supports overall well-being by encouraging rest, emotional balance, and a sense of grounding.

About Crystal Singing Bowls

Crystal singing bowls are made from 99.992% pure quartz and produce powerful, pure tones that resonate deeply through the body. These sounds are not only heard but also felt — at a cellular and energetic level.

Each bowl is tuned to a specific musical note, which corresponds to an energy centre (chakra) in the body. For example, a bowl tuned to the note F resonates with the heart chakra. When played, its vibration moves directly into that area, gently working with the physical, emotional, and mental layers connected to it.

The sound helps to release stored energy, tension, and blockages, allowing the body to return to balance and harmony. This process can support healing, relaxation, and emotional release.

Crystal singing bowls create a deeply immersive experience in which sound becomes a tool for healing, meditation, and energetic alignment, felt throughout the body. A Gentle, Supportive Practice

Sound healing does not require belief, effort, or experience. You don’t need to meditate in a certain way or achieve a particular outcome. The practice is simply about allowing sound to support you where you are.

It works best when approached with openness and curiosity — trusting the body to respond in its own time.

What to Bring to a Sound Bath

To help you feel comfortable and relaxed, you may wish to bring:

  • A yoga mat or something comfortable to lie on

  • A blanket for warmth, as the body can cool during deep relaxation

  • A small cushion or pillow for head or knee support

  • Warm, comfortable clothing that allows you to fully relax

  • An eye mask (optional) to help soften the senses

Everything else is optional. The most important thing to bring is simply yourself, with a willingness to rest and listen.

If you have any injuries, sensitivities, or special requirements, you’re always welcome to let me know beforehand. What Happens When You Arrive

Please arrive 15 minutes before the sound bath begins. This gives you time to settle in and prepare your space without feeling rushed.

When you arrive, you’ll be warmly welcomed and guided into the room. You’ll have time to:

  • Use the toilet if needed

  • Lay out your yoga mat, blanket, and pillow

  • Get comfortable and choose where you’d like to rest

  • Gently settle your breath and energy before we begin

Once everyone is settled, the session will start promptly to maintain a calm and uninterrupted experience for the group.

You’ll be invited to lie down comfortably (or sit if preferred) and simply relax while the sound journey unfolds. There’s nothing you need to do — just allow the sounds and vibrations to move through you at your own pace.

Arriving a little early helps create a peaceful, grounded atmosphere for everyone and allows you to fully receive the experience.
